Jaya Parvati Vrat 2025
Jaya Parvati Vrat,
is a sacred five-day observance dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati,
primarily followed by women in Gujarat and western India. It is observed
for marital harmony, family prosperity, and for unmarried
girls to seek a suitable life partner.

Rituals & Observance
- Day 1:
Sow wheat seeds (javara) in a small earthen pot and place it in the
puja area.
- Daily Puja:
Offer kumkum, flowers, water, and decorate a nagla (cotton
wool necklace) with vermillion.
- Fasting:
Avoid salt, wheat, and vegetables for all 5 days.
- Jagran:
On the 5th night, stay awake chanting bhajans and mantras in praise
of Shiva-Parvati.
- Conclusion:
On the 6th day, immerse the grown wheat grass in a sacred water body and
break the fast with a meal containing salt and wheat.
Legend & Significance
The vrat is rooted in the
story of a devoted Brahmin woman who prayed to Lord Shiva to restore her
husband’s life after a snakebite. Her devotion moved the deity, and her husband
was revived. Since then, this vrat is believed to bring marital bliss, longevity
of spouse, and divine blessings.
