The sacred Pavitrotsavams,
a purification ritual to absolve any lapses in daily worship, will be observed
with grandeur and devotion:
Ankurarpanam (Seed Sowing
Ritual):
Date: September 2, 2025
Significance: Marks the spiritual beginning of the festival, invoking
divine blessings through germination.
Main Festival Days:
September 3–5, 2025
- Day 1 – Pavitra Pratista:
Sacred threads (Pavitras) are consecrated and installed on the deities. - Day 2 – Pavitra Samarpana:
The consecrated threads are offered to the deities with Vedic chants and rituals. - Day 3 – Purnahuti:
Culmination of the Yagam with final offerings into the sacred fire, symbolizing spiritual purification.
Ritual Highlights
Each day features Snapana
Tirumanjanam, a ceremonial bath for the Utsava Murthis, using
fragrant substances like sandalwood paste, turmeric, milk, and holy water. This
ritual enhances the sanctity and visual splendor of the festival.
Cultural Significance
Pavitrotsavams are deeply
rooted in Agama traditions, serving as a spiritual reset for the temple.
They are believed to cleanse any inadvertent mistakes in daily rituals and
renew the divine energy of the sanctum.
