Tirumala Temple to Remain Closed for 12 Hours Due to Lunar Eclipse – September 2025

 

Important Dates & Timings

The sacred Tirumala Temple will observe a temporary closure in adherence to traditional practices surrounding the upcoming Lunar Eclipse:

  • Eclipse Duration:
    Starts: 9:50 PM, September 07, 2025
    Ends: 1:31 AM, September 08, 2025
  • Temple Closure:
    Closes: 3:30 PM, September 07 (6 hours before eclipse begins)
    Reopens: 3:00 AM, September 08 (after purification rituals)
  • Darshan Resumes:
    From: 6:00 AM, September 08

Sevas Canceled on September 07

Due to the eclipse observance, the following Arjita Sevas will be canceled:

  • Unjal Seva
  • Arjitha Brahmotsavam
  • Sahasra Deepalankara Seva

These cancellations are in line with Agama Shastra traditions, which prohibit temple rituals during eclipses to maintain sanctity.

Annaprasadam Distribution Update

  • Suspended: From 3:00 PM, September 07 across all locations including:
    • Annaprasadam Complex
    • PAC2
    • VQC compartments
    • Other distribution points
  • Alternative Offering:
    TTD will distribute 30,000 packets of Pulihora at:
    • Rambhageecha
    • PAC1
    • CRO
    • Seva Sadan
    • ANC areas
  • Resumes: 8:30 AM, September 08

Rituals Post-Eclipse

Before reopening, the temple will undergo Shuddi (purification) and Punyahavachanam (sanctification) ceremonies to restore spiritual purity. These rituals are deeply rooted in Vedic customs and reflect the temple’s commitment to preserving its sacred atmosphere.
